It’s a quick special edition from our regular hosts Ben and Frazer to mark some important milestones for All Things Business.
Both hosts share their excitement for the coming month. It’s awards season, with the Northamptonshire Business Excellence Awards on Thursday 9th November and the Northamptonshire Education Awards on Friday 10th November approaching later that week, both produced by All Things Business. Ben and Frazer are hard at work to produce the best possible awards shows for Northamptonshire’s education and business communities.

Broadcasting Legend Eamonn Holmes | Ep 40

A celebrity, a broadcasting legend and an OBE! Today the podcast is joined by one of its most prestigious guests yet: TV presenter and recent host of the Milton Keynes Education Awards Eamonn Holmes!
Ben, Frazer and Eamonn begin by reflecting on the MKEA’s and how well they were received. With 270 people in the room on the night, Ben says he only knew around 10% of the people there, but plenty of people have still got in touch to celebrate the night.
Eamonn has also received praise for his hosting abilities and his interviews of the winners. He says he felt very humbled by it, being surrounded by people who are investing their lives to making their students and communities better, with the whole room seeming invested in the winners.

We have a pair of returning guests on this episode of All Things Business – The Podcast. Back in 2022, Martin Carmody, Managing Director of Stratos Creative and Rebecca Covington, Marketing Manager at Woodfines Solicitors came on the podcast to discuss creative marketing.
That podcast was the first time they met, but they now return having worked closely together on the recent rebrand of Woodfines Solicitors! As Rebecca says, “it was nice seeing you walk through that door” into the pitch meeting.

Connor Slasberg: Something a Little Bit Different | Ep 38

Connor Slasberg, Service Solutions Specialist at Bechtle UK, joins Ben and Frazer for this unusual edition of All Things Business – The Podcast. But it’s not his sales expertise that he’s been called in for, he’s here to do something a bit special.
But first, some background. Connor currently works at Bechtle UK, and was called out to complete a half-marathon with Ben and Frazer in support of Harry’s Rainbow, but has a medical condition which prevents him from running long distances.
However, Bechtle recently acquired ACS Staffing Solutions, so Connor and two friends are going to do a charity walk from ACS’s office in Northampton to Bechtle’s office in Chippenham. They’re calling it ‘The Great Commute’ and will be completing the 130-mile walk for three charities: The Haemophilia Society, Oddballs, and the Ruth Strauss Foundation.

Odette Mould MBE: Tragedy Led to Harry's Rainbow | Ep 37

This week Ben and Frazer are joined by Odette Mould MBE, grief advocate and CEO of Harry’s Rainbow, a charity that provides a variety of services to bereaved children, including support groups, retreats and memory boxes.
She began the charity after her son Harry passed away at the age of 5. He fell ill very suddenly and within three days he had passed away, which of course came as a huge shock to Odette and her family, including Harry’s twin sister Jessica.

It’s a classic Ben and Frazer duo episode, as they sit down to review the first half of 2023. They begin by reflecting on the success of the podcast and some of the incredible episodes they’ve had the privilege of being involved in.
Ben highlights the episodes with John Hewitt, Elaine Harries, Danny Roberts and Parm Bhangal as particular highlights, while Frazer mentions the episodes with Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock, John Hartson and reiterates the impact of Danny Roberts’ episode, calling it both difficult and inspiring due to its heavy subject matter.

John Hartson: I'd Either Be Dead Or In Jail | Ep 35

Ben is joined today by John Hartson, former professional footballer for teams including Arsenal, West Ham United and Celtic among many other prestigious clubs.
Ben begins by asking John about his start in football. After being spotted by a Luton Town scout at the age of ten in his hometown of Swansea, John spent his summers at their training camps until he was 16 and was able to sign an official youth contract with them. At 19 he was signed to Arsenal by legendary manager George Graham, and it was there he played alongside the likes of Ian Wright and Dennis Bergkamp.
After two seasons he moved on to West Ham United, where he believes he was at the peak of his physical capabilities on the pitch, but it was his time at Celtic from 2001-2006 that he describes as ‘joyous’, with 60,000 fans in attendance every week and scoring regularly.
